I had a very successful weekend at the gym – and I have a love in my life. That love is that arc trainer. A few weeks ago, I was able to about 20 minutes on the arc trainer and then have to move onto another piece of equipment. I am now able to do 50 minutes at a good pace and feel great about it afterwards.

Late last week, I met with Stephanie again. Stephanie Kugler owns Healthy Balance Nutrition Counseling and has been working with me along with Bryan. On Thursday, Stephanie reviewed my food journal and she and I discussed how my eating habits have been. She would like to see me increase my calcium intake, which has always been a struggle for me. I can’t stand milk, and I have to choke yogurt down, but Stephanie made some fantastic recommendations about some low-fat cheeses and ways to make the yogurt more palatable. In addition, Stephanie said that my calorie intake is generally still too low, and she recommends that I add a mid-day snack in to boost the calories, preferable one with calcium and/or protein. I am also going to continue to reduce my caffeine intake, as that continues to be a struggle. Stephanie has also recommended that I seek out fresh vegetables and fruits with the most color, as color generally indicates more vitamins and minerals. Overall, Stephanie is pleased with my progress and she and I plan to meet again the week after next. If you would like to contact Stephanie she can be reached at 518-482-3537.

I need some new music for my workouts. I would love any and all suggestions. Please feel free to leave them here – or shoot me an email – angelaa@talk1300.com

It was harder today I think, because he didn’t have to spend the time explaining the workout, so I had to go through them at the speed he set for me (only 30 seconds between each). After the hour long training session he suggested I try out their Pilates class. I had a tough time remembering to keep my stomach in, but the instructor T was great about reminding me. After that, I still had to do my cardio, afterwards my clothes were totally soaked, but once again my adrenaline was pumping. We took a bunch of pictures today during my workout to show you some of the stuff that I am doing and you can check them out here Let us know what you think.

Yesterday when I was at Omni Fitness, Bryan had me try out the Arc Trainer for the first time. That machine is amazing! My heart was pumping, I was sweating like crazy and I just felt good. That will be a machine that I will use on a regular basis on this program.

Bryan has documented everything that I will be doing and the methodology behind it on his blog and I think that you will find it interesting.

When I got to Omni Fitness this morning, Bryan had me do an initial 5 minute fast treadmill walk as a warm-up. The goal was to break a sweat and get my heart rate up. Then it was time for the “torture”. Bryan has created an extensive circuit training program that will suit my specific needs (again, check out his blog). The circuit training portion of today’s program lasted about an hour – and by the end my legs felt like Jello (but that is good – right?). I think the hardest exercises for me were the “traveling lunges with arm curls” – my legs were actually shaking as I did them – but Bryan was fantastic and pushed me through. All the exercises were hard, but none of them impossible. The squat thrusts with the medicine ball were probably pretty funny to watch – as I kept tripping – but my coordination will improve, but again, Bryan was extremely motivating and kept me going.

After the hour of training with Bryan – I then did 50 minutes of cardio (30 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the Arc Trainer). When I was done, my shirt was actually soaked through with sweat – but I felt amazing. My adrenaline was flying high – and I have had less than half the amount of caffeine today than I usually do, and I am not feeling fatigued.

Yikes! I have a habit of eating a lot of “chemical” ridden food – including artificial sweeteners, things made with Olestra, etc. Bryan’s told me, that when I am eating I should remember “If your grandmother doesn’t know what it is – than you shouldn’t be eating it.” So that I what I will be thinking about from now on!
