The last 24 hours have been something. 24 + years ago 1300 had just installed a new transmitter in its house- about the size of a small U-Haul in a building about the size of a big U-Haul. Yesterday afternoon we turned on a new transmitter, capable of twice the power, and about the size of a refrigerator. It was sometime between 5p & 6pm yesterday that we finally gave the old transmitter its first break in a long time. The building is a little cooler and quieter with the new transmitter on line -- the new one is stronger already -- clearly louder than the old one and puts the finishing touch on everything else replaced new at 1300. Our next move is to start turning the power up to our new assigned level (double the power!). The old transmitter will remain as a back up … but we wouldn’t be as far along if it weren’t for her in the first place. Another piece of history in an amazing 15 months so far!
